Abstract:
A laboratory version of a pulsed laser vacuum ultraviolet spectrometer was designed and made. It is based on the principle of mixing the frequencies of two dye lasers in a nonlinear medium (magnesium vapor). The spectrometer operates in the spectral range 141–164 nm with a spectral resolution of Δλ=0.5nm (0.2cm–1) and an average intensity of 109 photons/ sec.
