Cutoff wavelength in real single-mode fiber-optic waveguides

V. V. Grigor'yants, G. A. Ivanov, V. A. Isaev, Yu. K. Chamorovsky
Abstract: The methods of measuring the cutoff wavelength in real single-mode fiber-optic waveguides are compared and analyzed. There is a good qualitative correlation between the systematic differences exhibited by the data and the physical characteristic features of the methods of measurement. Recommendations are given for choosing a method for practical use in determining the cutoff wavelength.
