Investigation of the mechanism of inactive losses in LiF (F2) crystals

N. A. Ivanov, D. V. Inshakov, I. A. Parfianovich, V. M. Khulugurov
Abstract: A study was made of the mechanism of inactive losses in γ-irradiated LiF crystals in the spectral region of the absorption by the Ff centers. The inactive losses were not determined by the processes of nonlinear absorption and transfer of energy from an excited state of the F2 centers to impurity ions. The results obtained indicated that the main contribution to the inactive losses was due to attenuation of light by colloidal lithium particles.
