Control of laser radiation parameters

Formation of laser pulses by deflector system

V. A. Malinov, V. N. Chernov
Abstract: A computer was used in a numerical investigation of the formation of extremely short laser pulses in a deflector system under conditions when the peak power of a beam is subject to diffraction losses. A study was made of the time instability of spatial characteristics of the resultant pulses and ways of reducing this instability were considered. It was found theoretically and confirmed experimentally that it should be possible to generate profiled pulses with a power drop up to a factor of 104 by altering the shape and dimensions of stops in the beam scanning plane.
