Normal oscillation modes of a gyrotropic inhomogeneous medium

Abstract: The vector Maxwell equations are used to obtain the exact solution for normal oscillation modes of a gyrotropic inhomogeneous medium subject to an allowance for absorption (amplification). It is shown that the transformation of Laguerre–Gaussian beams in such media can be calculated using transfer matrices of the kind employed for normal polarization modes.
