Abstract: The output power of a laser utilizing self-terminating transitions in Yb atoms was investigated experimentally as a function of the pulse repetition frequency. It was found that the observed decrease in the output power (energy) as the pulse repetition frequency increased was not due to the finite lifetime of the lower active.
