Operation of solid-state lasers under the action of an electron beam

Abstract:
An investigation was made of the temporal, energy, and spectral characteristics of ruby, YAG:Nd3+, and Nd3+-activated laser glasses irradiated by an electron beam of 1012–1014 electrons/cm2 density. It was experimentally established that radiation defects induced by the electrons considerably changed the characteristics of the investigated lasers.
