Feasibility of determination of small displacements using a ring laser

È. M. Belenov, M. V. Danileĭko, A. V. Uskov
Abstract: A description is given of a system for measuring small displacements. This system is based on the characteristics of the dynamics of emission from ring lasers associated with a redistribution of the energy between the counterpropagating waves. The minimum detectable vibration amplitude was ~10–18–10–19 cm and it was limited by fluctuations of the laser radiation intensity.
