Remote diagnostics of media by the CARS method using stimulated Brillouin backscattering

A. F. Bunkin, D. V. Vlasov, A. S. Galumyan
Abstract: An analysis is made of the general case of a nondegenerate system for CARS (coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering) spectroscopy in the case of remote measurements. A system of equations is derived for the interacting fields: it allows for stimulated Brillouin scattering and for enhancement of pump radiation by stimulated Raman scattering. The constant field approximation and realistic experimental conditions are used in estimating the magnitude of the signal which should be observed.
