Shaping of a high-power pulse in an amplifying system

G. V. Gadiyak, K. A. Nasyrov, A. M. Orishich, A. G. Ponomarenko
Abstract: An amplifying shaping system which can produce a pulse of prearranged shape focused onto a small target is proposed. The shaping principle involves controlling the radiation intensity over the transverse cross section of the amplifier. Using simple physical models, numerical calculations are made of the proposed system and approximate analytic expressions, which can be used to calculate the time profile of the pulse, are derived.
