Characteristics of lasing in heat-treated active elements

Abstract: An examination was made of the lasing characteristics of heat-treated glass active elements. It was found that heat treatment increases the average power emitted from glass lasers while maintaining a high emission brightness, and provides a radiation beam which is uniform over its cross section in a pulse-periodic laser with electrooptic Q switching.
