Bichromatic excitation of molecules in a high-intensity infrared laser field

Abstract:
Effective population of the first overtone 2ν3 of the SF6 molecule was achieved by the application of two laser fields detuned symmetrically from resonance. This method revealed a structure of the multiphoton excitation spectrum of the OsO4 molecule in the range of frequencies inaccessible to monochromatic CO2 laser radiation.
