Abstract: An investigation was made of the evolution of the time profile of a high-power CO2 laser pulse during its transmission by absorbing molecular gases C2F6 and SF6. The effects observed were associated with an anharmonic shift of the infrared absorption band of the molecule when it became vibrationally excited.
