Influence of a plasma jet on the effective coefficient of absorption of energy from a cw laser beam by a target

G. G. Gladush, S. F. Moryashchev, A. A. Startsev, A. N. Yavokhin
Abstract: An experimental investigation was made of the effective coefficient representing the absorption of energy from a high-power cw laser beam by metals. The efficiency of energy transfer from the beam to a target in He was found to be considerably higher than in Ar. A qualitative explanation of the observed dependences was provided.
