Determination of the rate constant for vibrationai-vibrationai exchange in nitrogen under biharmonic excitation conditions

Abstract:
The rate constant for vibrationai-vibrationai exchange, K1001 = (1 ± 0.4) × 10–13 cm3/sec, was determined under conditions of selective biharmonic excitation of the first vibrational state of nitrogen. Procedural aspects of measurements of the vibrational relaxation time under biharmonic excitation conditions are discussed.
