Abstract:
An investigation was made of acoustooptic mode locking in a YAG:Nd3+ laser with intracavity frequency doubling in a lithium iodate crystal. The energy, noise, and "mismatch" characteristics of the laser were investigated. It was found that the mode locking zone increased in size to several millimeters, compared with the regime in the absence of frequency doubling. The maximum power of the second harmonic observed in the mode-locked regime was 5 W, which was approximately three times higher than in the pure cw regime.
