Emission from perturbed metastable iodine atoms
V. Yu. Zalesskiĭ, T. P. Zhurilo
Abstract:
The dependences of the intensities of the radiation emitted by iodine atoms in the region of 1.3μ on the concentrations of Ar(up to 70 atm), Xe(up to 45 atm), and CF3I(up to 3 atm) made it possible to estimate the equilibrium constants of processes of the I(2P1/2)+M = I(2P1/2)·M type and the probabilities of radiative transitions resulting in the satellites. The data on the relative intensities of the satellites were obtained for several other gases. An analysis of the results indicated that photodissociation of molecules of the CkF2k+1I type with 1≤k≤4 in a compressed rare gas at pressures above 16 atm(Xe) or 28 atm(Ar) resulted in a higher gain in the case of a short-wavelength satellite than in the case of the 1315 nm atomic line.
