Formation of optical inhomogeneities in ZnTe by single picosecond pulses

V. A. Zyul'kov, V. P. Gribkovskiĭ, V. A. Ivanov, V. S. Chirvonyi
Abstract: The shadow method was used to study the effects of single picosecond pulses of the second harmonic of a neodymium laser on the refractive index of zinc telluride in the transparency range of this semiconductor. Formation of optical inhomogeneities was attributed to the excitation of nonequilibrium free carriers.
