Abstract:
The shadow method was used to study the effects of single picosecond pulses of the second harmonic of a neodymium laser on the refractive index of zinc telluride in the transparency range of this semiconductor. Formation of optical inhomogeneities was attributed to the excitation of nonequilibrium free carriers.
