Thermal effects of the absorption of CO2 laser radiation by water vapor

V. A. Levin, A. A. Sorokin, A. M. Starik
Abstract: An analysis is made of the cooling of a gas containing water vapor as a result of absorption of CO2 laser radiation of 9.4–10.4μ wavelengths. A numerical study is reported of the influence of the parameters of the gas and of the radiation intensity on the magnitude of the cooling effect and its lifetime.
