Lasers
Narrow-band tunable XeCl* laser
I. A. Kudinov, V. T. Platonenko, E. V. Slobodchikov
Abstract:
Narrow-band (0.015 cm – 1 ) radiation was frequency-tuned in an 80-cm – 1 wide range covering the 0–0, 0–1, 0–2, and 0–3 transitions of the B–X band of XeCl* molecules. An investigation was made of the dynamics of spectral narrowing with time (from the start to the end of the pulse). The contrast ratio of the laser radiation relative to the broad-band background was briefly analyzed. The maximum energy per pulse was about 200 μJ, i.e., it exceeded a value typical of lasers with such a spectral width.
