Relative stability of working mixtures of iodine photodissociation lasers in the presence of stimulated enthalpy scattering

Abstract: A flashlamp-pumped iodine laser was investigated and it was found that the ratios of the experimentally measured depths of dips in the profiles of inhomogeneity waves in various working mixtures were equal to the ratios of the transient values of the gain in the case of the theoretically calculated stimulated enthalpy scattering. These observations were used as the basis of a rapid method for the determination of the relative stability of working mixtures in iodine lasers in the presence of stimulated enthalpy scattering.
