Influence of structure defects on the internal optical strength of KDP single crystals

Abstract: An investigation was made of the influence of isomorphic impurities, foreign-phase inclusions, and dislocations in KDP on the internal laser damage threshold. The distribution of the microdefect concentration in terms of their damage thresholds was studied. It was established that impurities can considerably reduce the optical strength of KDP crystals.
