Generation of picosecond pulses in dye lasers pumped by single pulses

K. D. Egorov, V. M. Petnikova, S. A. Plashanov, V. V. Shuvalov
Abstract: The dynamics of the generation of picosecond radiation pulses by dye lasers operating in the strong gain saturation regime is investigated theoretically and experimentally. Systems are described which are characterized by reliability of operation and simplicity of construction. Generation of bandwidth-limited 3.5 psec duration pulses is reported.
