Investigation of the amplification of ultrashort light pulses in three-level resonant systems

An analysis is made of simultaneous propagation of pulses of different frequencies in many-level resonantly amplifying and absorbing media. Analytic expressions are obtained for the envelopes of fields in the case of propagation of two-frequency radiation in a three-level medium with a common lower level. Self-similar equations are obtained for the radiation propagating in an amplifying medium; in certain special cases, these equations are identical with those considered earlier.
