Abstract:
Stimulated emission of λ = 1.6 μ radiation was observed when GaSb was excited by electron-beam bombardment at liquid-nitrogen temperatures. The efficiency of such emission was 30%. A liquid-nitrogen-cooled sealed laser had the following parameters: The electron energy was up to 60 keV; the electron beam density was up to 15 A/cm2; the output radiation power was up to 100 W. The duration of the output pulses could be varied from 2·10–8 to 2·10–6 sec. The repetition frequency was up to 103 Hz. The power, spectral, and spatial characteristics of the output radiation were determined.
