Photoionization cross sections of excited states of some mercury-like ions in alkali halide crystals

Abstract:
A method is proposed for determining the photoionization cross section of an excited state from the change in the relative quantum efficiency of intracenter luminescence. Measurements are reported of the cross sections of photoionization by intense radiation from an XeCl excimer laser of mercury-like Tl+, In+, and Sn2+ ions in alkali halide crystals.
