Time delay of stimulated emission from lead chalcogenide diode lasers

Abstract: Long delays of stimulated emission from homojunction lead chalcogenide lasers are shown to be due to the appearance of a thermoelastic waveguide because of inhomogeneous heat release, low thermal diffusivity, and high strain sensitivity.
