Physical processes in active media

Conditions for cw lasing in a filled open telescopic resonator

Abstract: The condition ensuring cw lasing is derived and the normal oscillation modes are found for an unstable telescopic resonator filled with an amplifying medium. The diffraction of light at the mirror edges is allowed for. The problem of the normal oscillations is solved for a resonator with cylindrical mirrors. The selected properties of such resonators are considered.
