Lasers

Pulsations of radiation emitted from two optically coupled injection lasers

K. B. Dedushenko, A. N. Mamaev
Abstract: An investigation was made of two optically coupled injection lasers. Variation of the optical lengths of these lasers resulted in hopping between the longitudinal modes in the spectrum and this was accompanied by modulation of the output power. Deep pulsations of the radiation were then observed under specific conditions. These pulsations were due to breakdowns of the coherent interaction state, resulting from finite phase and amplitude fluctuations caused by spontaneous emission.
