Abstract: Estimates are given of the maximum average output powers which can be obtained from pulsed metal vapor lasers. It is shown that the average output power of sealed lasers of this type can be of the order of several tens of watts per centimeter of the discharge tube length, i.e., it can exceed by more than one order of magnitude the corresponding power obtained from the CO2 laser.
