Control of laser radiation parameters

Rectification of the intensity distribution of Gaussian beams using aspheric lenses

S. A. Viznyuk, A. T. Sukhodol'skiĭ
Abstract: It is proposed to use aspheric lenses to transform Gaussian laser beams into beams having a rectangular intensity distribution. Calculations are made of the shape of the aspheric lenses needed in this transformation (rectification). It is shown experimentally that a thermocapillary lens may be used to obtain nearly uniform illumination.
