Abstract: The influence of speckle on the resolution in the conversion of infrared images is considered theoretically. In such conversion the illumination of an object with coherent radiation reduces the resolution of a converter. It is shown experimentally that this effect can be greatly reduced by small mechanical displacements of the object or of the diffuser through which the object is illuminated.
