Light-injection prism with a parabolic gap profile

Abstract: A total-internal-reflection prism with a cylindrical base was designed for the injection of light into a thin-film dielectric waveguide. The efficiency of injection of a Gaussian beam of light into a film could be as high as 98.7%. The experimental value was 90%.
