Abstract: Measurements were made of the specific mass removal on boring holes in metals with an electron-beam-controlled CO laser operating in the free-lasing regime. It was found that such a laser was in no way inferior to a pulsed CO2 laser as regards its efficiency for boring holes in copper and steel, and was considerably superior in the case of aluminum.
