Generation of a train of laser pulses by partially switching off the resonator losses

Z. A. Jankiewicz
Abstract: An analysis is made of laser systems designed to generate trains of giant pulses. A solution is given of the problem of generation of a train of pulses with identical output energies and output peak powers. Two types of losses switched off are distinguished: dissipative and transmission. Important differences between these two types of losses are identified.
