Abstract:
A study was made of the influence of cooling in the range 0–60 °C on a backscattered signal in quartz-polymer fiber waveguides. Such a signal was found to be highly sensitive (~ 0.2 dB/°C) to changes in temperature when the length of the cooled region was ~ 25 m. An analysis was made of the factors which could affect the parameters of spatially distributed sensors utilizing quartzpolymer fiber waveguides and ways of reducing such an influence found.
