Spontaneous emission probabilities and collisional line widths of 0001–[1000, 0200]I,II lasing transitions in the CO2 molecule
V. V. Nevdakh
Abstract:
A frequency-stabilized tunable CO2 laser was used to measure the absorption coefficients for the J = 6–34 lines in the R and P branches of the 0001-[1000,0200]I,II transitions in CO2 with an error of less than 1% in the pressure range of 1–200 Torr at room temperature. A specially developed method was used to calculate the spontaneous emission probabilities A mn and the collisional line widths 2ΔνL from the measured absorption coefficients at pressures corresponding to the Voigt and Lorentzian line profiles. The data obtained were approximated by analytic expressions describing the dependences of Amn and 2ΔνL on the rotational quantum number J. The squares of the matrix elements of the moments of the transitions were calculated for all the lines under study.
