Frequency-selective stimulated emission from CO2 molecules in the 16 μ band

A. G. Velikanov, N. M. Gorshunov, Yu. P. Neshchimenko, A. V. Shcherbo
Abstract: Calculations are reported of multistage frequency-selective stimulated emission of CO2 molecules in the 9 μ band and of the R (11) line in the 16 μ band. It is shown that high-power and narrow-frequency stimulated emission can be obtained in the 16 μ band of CO2 by pulsed Q switching of the resonator. The output power can be almost doubled by introducing into the resonator an external radiation pulse of the selected frequency (in the 16 μ band) synchronized with a 9-μ lasing pulse.
