Picosecond lasing of mixed ZnxCd1–xS single crystals in an external resonator

Abstract: Laser emission from mixed ZnxCd1–xS (0 ≤ x ≤ 0.07) single crystals was observed in an external resonator at T = 80 K. A study was made of the characteristics of lasing in the case of synchronous pumping with radiation from a mode-locked argon laser. The role of spatial spreading of carriers outside the excitation zone was considered.
