Abstract:
An experimental investigation was made of the damage of thin metal films by laser radiation. It was found that the evaporation was the main mechanism of the formation of holes in films by short (of the order of 10–8 sec) laser pulses. A detailed comparison of the experimental results with the main consequences of the evaporation model demonstrated a good quantitative agreement between them.
