Spectroscopic investigation of the stimulated emission due to coupled transitions in gas lasers

V. M. Grimblatov, E. P. Ostapchenko, V. V. Teselkin
Abstract: The physical model of the Bennett dips is used in an analysis of the influence of the competition between transitions having a common laser level on the frequency spectrum of each transition. The frequency dependences of the gain are obtained allowing for the field of the competing transition. An experimental study was made of the emission spectrum of a helium–neon laser at λ = 0.63 and 1.15 μ. The region of the strongest interaction between competing transitions was identified and conditions were found for the simultaneous single-frequency emission at both wavelengths.
