Investigation of the relationships governing the formation of images in a scanning laser microscope

S. A. Belyaev, O. V. Bogdankevich, V. G. Dyukov, Yu. A. Kudeyarov
Abstract: Calculations are reported relating to images obtained in a scanning laser microscope. The resolving power of the microscope is determined and it is shown that it is higher than for a conventional optical microscope. Moreover, the resolving power is independent of the degree of coherence of the radiation supplied by the light source and can be improved by subtracting the constant component of the video signal.
