Anomalous interaction of laser radiation with plasma

Yu. N. Lazarev, N. P. Sitnikov
Abstract: A physicomathematical model is used to describe the processes of resonance and parametric interaction of laser radiation with a plasma in the critical density region. The exceptionally strong influence of ponderomotive forces on the formation of the density profile close to the critical point is demonstrated. The parameters of the resultant gasdynamic flow are investigated over a wide range of intensities and incidence angles of the laser radiation and of plasma temperatures, the spatial structure of the plasma and electromagnetic waves is obtained, and the coefficients of the resonance and parametric absorption are given.
