Abstract:
The method of chemical deposition from the vapor phase was used in fabrication of a gradedindex fiber-optic waveguide with losses of 2.45,0.50, and 0.25 dB/km at the wavelengths of 0.85, 1.3, and 1.55 μ, respectively, and with a bandwidth of 900 MHz-km at the wavelength of 0.87 μ. Under these conditions the excess losses were less than 0.1 dB/km.
