Abstract:
It is shown theoretically that the electric field intensity can be measured remotely by the coherent anti-Stokes Raman spectroscopy (CARS) method when one of the interacting waves in the CARS system is a static electric field. A system of equations is obtained for relating the intensity of the investigated field and the angles specifying the orientation of the field vector in space to the intensity of the probe and scattered anti-Stokes radiations. Estimates are obtained of the sensitivity in the case of moderate laser radiation powers under realistic conditions.
