Ionizing properties of radiation emitted from dielectric and metallic surfaces illuminated with a ruby laser beam

A. A. Kalmykov, G. N. Rozental'
Abstract: An investigation was made of the ionizing properties of the radiation generated on dielectric and metallic surfaces by illumination with a Q-switched laser beam. The current in an ionization chamber was used to obtain information on the spectral composition of such radiation and its propagation inside the chamber. A determination was made of the amount of energy carried away by the radiation in a specified spectral range.
