Experimental modeling of defocusing as a means for coupling radiation out of an amplifying medium

Abstract:
An experimental investigation was made of defocusing of superradiance in overheated channels formed in a rhodamine 6G solution under the action of pump radiation. The advantages of defocusing, including the feasibility of operation under saturation conditions, the long length of active medium, the highly directional coupling out of the energy, and the single-mode radiation are discussed with reference to thin-layer lasers.
