Stimulated emission of 5 μ radiation from a CO2+N2+He mixture

Abstract: Stimulated emission of λ = 5 μ radiation was achieved by cooling a CO2+N2+He mixture with liquid nitrogen. The gain was measured for 40 lines, corresponding to vibration–rotational transitions in the CO molecule in the ν'–ν'' range from 4–3 to 12–11.
