Abstract:
An analysis is made of the enhancement of the efficiency of detection or transmission of laser radiation achieved by compensation for large-scale distortions of the phase front. An algorithm for the compensation of phase distortions is determined taking into account a priori information on the statistical properties of the received signal and the noise characteristics of the meter used to measure the aperture-averaged tilt of the phase front. The efficiencies of optimal and suboptimal algorithms are compared.
