Kinetics of formation of excimer XeF(B) in photoexcitation of an Xe–F2 mixture

An investigation was made of the processes of degradation of the excitation energy in an Xe–F₂ mixture subjected to monochromatic (Δλ ≈ 0.3 nm) radiation which produced XeF excimers (D and B). It was concluded that the formation of XeF excimers on excitation of an Xe–F₂ mixture in the region of the atomic absorption of xenon involved participation of excited Xe₂ molecules.
